The inhibitory effects of FPE and BPE were assessed based on previous studies withslight modification 13,14. A quantity of 25 uL of sample solution was mixed with 25 ulof a-glucosidase (1 U/ml), and the reaction was maintained for 10 min at 37 °C. Then25 μL 5mM of pNPG in 0.1 M phosphate buffer (pH 6.8) was added to the mixture andreacted for 10 min at 37 °C, followed by the addition of 50 uL of Na,CO, (100 mM) tostop the reaction, The absorbance was read at 450 nm using a micro-plate reader (BioTelInstruments, Winooski, VT, USA). All samples were measured in triplicate. The inhibitionrate of FPE or BPE was calculated using Equation (1):
